Vector Ecology

    Monitoring the effectiveness of the District's control programs and the occurrence and activities of vectors and disease causative agents is extremely important to insure the safety and well-being of the public.

Key Benefits

Mosquito abundance can be measured
Surveillance of mosquito and tick borne diseases
Information gained by surveillance activities can be used to increase the level of mosquito control thereby reducing the risk of disease transmission to humans.
Allows the District to issue warnings to the public advising them of areas with high levels of disease activity.
