Los Angeles County West Vector & Vector-Borne Disease Control District

Vector Control

Mosquito and vector control is necessary on a continuous routine and area-wide basis to protect the health and enhance the economic development, recreational use, and enjoyment of outdoor living.  Also, concerned with the danger that the Africanized Honeybees pose to the residents of the District, the Board of Trustees have established an Africanized Honeybee response plan for the District.

Key Benefits

Reduces mosquito population levels thereby lowering the risk of encephalitis transmission to humans.
Enhances economic development of areas formerly infested with mosquitoes.
Allows the use and enjoyment of outdoor recreational areas.
Bee and Yellowjacket suppression reduces the chance of stinging incidents.
